1. What is the function of the Chip Timing system?
Chip Timing System will be used to provide Official and Personal Times. Results will be based on the Official Times (Gun Times) in accordance with IAAF Standards. Each runner will be provided with a Black Chip on loan to him/her for timing purposes unless he/she is Yellow Chip Owner (Yellow Chip is Personal Chip).
2. Under what situation Chips are not detected?
  1. Incorrect use and wrong positioning of Chips
    1. -Put in pocket
    2. -Put around the wrist
    3. -Put above the knee
    4. -Did not bring the chip along to the race
    5. -Purposely damaging the chip before the race
  2. Did not step on the Mats set up at Start / Split / Finish location(s)
  3. Use of chips which are not supplied by ChampionChip Official Timers / Distributors
3. What should I do when using a chip during an event?
  1. If you are a Yellow Chip owner, remember to bring your personal Yellow Chip to an event, make sure you register your chip code with the organizer in advance. This is the 7-digit code, marked on the outside of the chip.
  2. Ensure that you have only one chip in an event.
  3. Remember to return the Black Chip (Rental Chip) to the organizer after the race.
4. What should I not do when using a chip during an event?
  1. Do not cross the systems by walking on your hands. Your chip will not be read.
  2. Do not step on the Mats set up at Start / Split / Finish locations before Start.
  3. If you prefer to use the ankle strap, do not tie the strap too tight as it may affect your leg movement.
5. Does the chip damage under extreme shock?
Yes, the chip can be damaged by extreme shocks.
6. Can I switch chips with another participant?
No. Chips are individually coded and non-transferable. Please do not switch chips or allow another participant to run with your chip. Otherwise both could be disqualified.
7. Can I keep the Rental Chip and use it at another event?
No. The Chip you are using is unique to the designated event.
8. Can you explain Chip(Net) Time versus Official Time?
Official Time :
The time from the sound of the starter's signal to the time when the runner crosses the finish line. This also know as the Official Time.
Net Time, Chip Time :
The time from when the runner crosses the starting mats at the start line, to the time when the runner crosses the finishing mats. It is for personal reference only.
